"How do I get a library card?"

Rockland residents or property owners are eligible for a free card.  Rockland property taxes support the operation of the library.

Children who live in the local school district (RSU 13) are also eligible for a free card.  Their cards are funded by the Friends of the Rockland Public Library.

Other Maine residents and visitors may purchase a library card.  Library users must possess a card to enjoy many library services, such as:

  • Requesting from the statewide catalog: 6 million items - books, movies, music & more.
  • Downloadable audiobooks
  • Access MARVEL databases from home.  1000's of periodicals, as far back as 1975.
  • Computer use: 90 min. per day.  Internet access and Microsoft Office programs.

Non-resident fees:

  • Annual card     $25
  • 3-month card  $15

Please bring both a photo ID and proof of current address (bill, checkbook, lease agreement, piece of mail) when applying for a library card.
